The Marble Range Football Club was officially formed in 1938, led by inaugural President E. Richsteig and Secretary Lance Puckridge. In those early days, the team took to the field in maroon and white. Success came quickly, with the club securing two premierships in 1940 and 1941 before the advent of World War II forced the club into recess.
In 1953, the club was reformed under the leadership of President H. E. Broad and Secretary B. W. Puckridge. This era marked a turning point in our visual identity, as we adopted the black and white colors that remain our pride today.
Before entering an A-Grade team into the Port Lincoln Football League, the club had to prove its mettle by winning a B-Grade flag—a feat achieved in 1956.
Persistence defined the following decades. After several runner-up finishes, the A-Grade side finally broke through for a historic premiership in 1978 under the guidance of Brenton Symonds. This sparked a new era of competitiveness, with another senior premiership following in 1982. The B-Grade also rewarded the club’s patience, claiming their long-awaited flag in 1989.
The 1990s stand as the most successful decade in our history. Marble Range became a dominant force in the league, collecting a staggering 12 premierships across all grades, highlighted by the iconic "back-to-back" A-Grade flags in 1997 and 1998.
At its heart, Marble Range has always been a family-oriented club. Our culture is built on the dedication of names that have become synonymous with the Magpies. We proudly honour families like the Hulls, Morgans, Puckridges, Charltons, Shepperds, and Sampsons, many of whom have been awarded multiple Life Memberships for their decades of service.
